This month’s letter begins with a lesson from Invest Fest: intentional concentration matters. Tens of thousands of Black entrepreneurs, investors, creators, professionals and learners were brought into the same space around ownership, capital, technology and opportunity. The challenge for Wichita is to bring more of that same intentional connection home — and bring a much larger Wichita delegation back next year.
WICHITA WATCH
Wichita Public Schools now reports a $20 million Renew America’s Schools investment across 30 schools. RRCBA’s documented partnership with USD 259 helped secure the original $15.3 million federal award and connect the work to workforce, apprenticeship and local-business opportunities.
Healthy Corner Store work continues to connect food access, public health and neighborhood business support. RRCBA is one of the City’s Neighborhood Liaisons and is actively engaged in outreach, store support and community connection.
Affordable housing activity, the Douglas Avenue safety pilot and more than $6.3 million in City arts support deserve community attention — especially when viewed through RRCBA’s 16 Community Standards.
CBA WATCH
Cleveland reports 33 executed CBAs under a formal community-benefits framework with public reporting expectations.
Kansas City’s Royals stadium package includes a community impact partnership agreement.
San Antonio created a resident advisory structure connected to $75 million in community benefits funding.
NCRC reports 22 bank community benefits agreements worth a combined $687.96 billion.
RRCBA IN ACTION

Healthy Food Access — RRCBA is serving as a Healthy Corner Store Initiative Neighborhood Liaison, connecting residents, stores, community organizations and resources.
5,000 Voices — RRCBA is building a system that moves people from affirmation to stated priorities, relevant committees and deeper participation.
Equitable Development — RRCBA is actively learning Wichita’s development-incentive tools and strengthening relationships with City decision-makers so residents can better understand where community-benefit opportunities exist.
